No more font or formatting problems after edits
An edit passes when the page, compared with the original by image, changed only where the words changed — the same font, the same spacing, nothing else moved. We run every version of the Seamtype server through the same fourteen edits.
Seamtype: the server that runs the browser editor, 30 October 2026, every edit with 0 pixels changed outside it. Word opens the PDF as a document and saves it again; PyMuPDF replaces the text with its own fonts.
| Made in | What is tested |
|---|---|
| Word | A justified paragraph, a longer word, an amount in a table |
| Word (German, Russian) | Letters the embedded font does not have: ü, Cyrillic |
| Excel | Names and numbers in table cells, aligned right |
| PowerPoint | A cloud font (Aptos) |
| Chrome | Web fonts in a report |
| matplotlib | Type 3 fonts in a chart |
| A generated invoice | Standard PDF fonts, columns |
The text reads right: the page's text, read back, has the new words in the right order.
The font is kept: the new letters are in the font of the words around them.
The line is intact: the rest of the line keeps its place and spacing.
Nothing else changed: outside the edited words, the page is the same, pixel for pixel.
Acrobat and Foxit are edited by hand, following the same steps; their results will be added here as they are run.
