No more font or formatting problems after edits
This page says what the Seamtype browser editor (seamtype.com) does with the files you open and the data your visit produces. The operator's name and contact address will be given here before the public launch.
To edit a PDF, it is sent to our server. The server shows the pages, makes your changes and makes the file you download. While you work, the document is held in the server's memory.
When an edit fails, the document as it was before the edit and what you asked for are kept, so that we can find and fix the cause. They are used only for that and are not shared with anyone. A file that cannot be opened is kept for the same reason.
A password you enter stays in the server's memory while you work: it opens the file and protects the file you download. It is not written to disk, and a document opened with a password is not kept when an edit fails.
A photo of your signature is sent to the server to find the ink in it; the signature comes back to your browser.
We do not read, sell or show your documents to anyone, and we do not use them to train software.
The editor keeps a few things in your browser's storage, on your device only: the language you chose, your signature (to use it again), whether the page strip is open, and — for a moment — the file opened on one of these pages while the editor opens. You can clear them with your browser's site data. The site itself sets no cookies; Google Analytics sets its own only if you agree in the banner. You can change your choice under “Cookie settings” at the foot of any page.
Your IP address, with the pages you visit, the site you came from and whether you use a phone: to count visitors and see which countries they come from. The address is also used to limit how many files and edits come from one address.
How you use the editor: which tools, whether edits worked, the size of the document and its number of pages, how long the server took, and downloads: to see what works and what to fix.
The rating you give when downloading, with the name of the file, to see how well the editor works.
The load on the server, its errors and errors of these pages in your browser, with the browser's name: to keep the service running and fix them.
There are no advertising scripts. A tracking script, Google Analytics, runs only if you agree.
Pages of this site load typefaces from Google Fonts. The link “Tell others on Trustpilot” takes you to Trustpilot, whose own privacy policy applies there. If you agree, Google Analytics counts visits and how the pages are used; Google's privacy policy applies to it.
